EGAT and IHI sign MoU for biomass co-firing at Mae Moh Plant
This will support EGAT’s goal to reach carbon neutrality by 2050.
The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japan-based IHI Corporation to explore the co-firing of biomass with coal at the Mae Moh Power Plant.
In a statement, EGAT said the partnership will involve exchanging information and technologies to establish wood pellet production plants.
The parties will also assess the composition and properties of the pellets to be used in the power plants.
“The collaboration enables the exchange of information, experiences, and knowledge, which will be applied to EGAT power plants, aiming for Carbon Neutrality by 2050 and Net Zero Emissions by 2065,” Narin Phoawanich, EGAT Deputy Governor – Fuel, said.
