
BHEL commissions 800MW coal project in Gujarat
Development of the unit required a $506m investment.
The 800 MW supercritical coal-fired Unit 8 of the Wanakbori plant has been successfully delivered by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
Realised on an EPC basis, the development of the Unit 8 required a US$506m investment. BHEL’s scope of work in the project encompassed design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of steam turbines, generators, boiler, associated auxiliaries and electricals, besides state-of-the-art controls & instrumentation (C&I) and electrostatic precipitators (ESPs).
Located in Gujarat State (Western India), the project, owned by state-owned Gujarat Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL), increases Wanakbori coal-fired plant capacity from 1,470 MW to 2,270 MW.
BHEL has an installed base of 185 GW of power plant equipment globally.
