Bangladesh's IDCOL to instal one lakh bio gas plants by 2016
IDCOL will introduce one-lakh bio gas plants in rural areas across the country by 2016.
The Bangladeshi firm has already set 25,500 Biogas plants in rural areas through its Partner Organizations under National Domestic Biogas and Manure Programme from June 2006.
“IDCOL is implementing the programme with support from government of Bangladesh,” said Mahmood Malik, Executive Director and CEO of Infrastructure Development Company Limited.
He said the IDCOL would provide financial aid to install new 1 million solar home systems and 20,000 biogas plants across the country.
The new 1 million SHSs will be capable to generate 50MW electricity. Installation of the new target is likely to be completed within the next two years. At least another 5 million rural people would have access to electricity after implementation of the program is completed.
