Arayat-Mexico solar farm to export power to the Luzon grid

This is in time for the demand surge during the Philippines’ summer season.

The 72-megawatt (MW) Arayat-Mexico solar farm, a joint venture between Citicore and ACEN, will be exporting additional capacity to the Luzon Grid after it reached its full capacity in March.

This is in time for the anticipated increase in demand during the summer season in the Philippines.

According to the Citicore and ACEN, the 72MW solar farm will produce 105 gigawatt-hour of renewable energy annually. This has the capacity to power some 45,000 households, whilst also preventing approximately 72,000 megatonnes of carbon emissions per year.

Citicore CEO Oliver Tan noted that the second phase of the Arayat-Mexico solar farm will begin construction by next month.

The Phase 2 of the project is expected to increase the total plant capacity to 116 MW. It is target to be completed before the end of the year.

“This huge solar plant shall be managed and operated in-house by our Citicore Property Managers, Inc., currently, we have eight solar farms and one micro-grid solar rooftops under our management,” Tan said.
