APAC leads global wind power sector growth
It posted a 15% YoY increase in terms of additional capacity.
Asia Pacific (APAC) dominated the wind power sector growth globally, accounting for 71% of the total 117 gigawatts (GW) of new installations, mainly driven by China.
In a report, the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) said the installations represent a 15% year-on-year growth.
The wind power increase in the region is led by China which accounted for 65% of the installations globally, followed by India which holds a 2% share in the new additions.

Europe comes second with a 16% share in the capacity additions, followed by North America at 7%, Latin America at 5%, and Africa and Middle East at 1%.
In terms of new capacity installations, China is followed by the US with a 5% share, Brazil at 4%, and Germany at 3%.
The top five markets by total wind power installations by the end of 2023 were China, the US, Germany, India, and Spain which comprise 72% of the world’s total.
