ACWA Power installs 1st wind turbine for 500 MW Uzbekistan wind farm

The Bash Wind Farm will be completed in 2025. 

Saudi Arabia-based ACWA Power has installed the first wind turbine for its 500-megawatt (MW) Bash wind farm project, the largest wind turbine in Central Asia.

In a statement, ACWA Power said the wind turbine generator manufactured by Envision has a 6.5 MW capacity.

The project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025.

The Bash Wind Farm will include 79 wind turbine generators which are expected to produce over 1,650 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually and cur carbon dioxide emissions by 750 tonnes every year.

ACWA Power and the JSC Nationa Electric Grid of Uzbekistan signed a 25-year power purchase agreement for the project.
