ACWA commences green hydrogen project development in Uzbekistan

The first phase of the development has a 3,000 tonne-per-year capacity.

Saudi Arabia-based ACWA Power held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the development of the first phase of its green hydrogen project in Uzbekistan with a 3,000 tonne-per-year capacity.

In a statement, the company said the project was inaugurated by Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyve, and Saudi Arabia Minister of Investment Khalid Al Falih.

The project, upon completion of the second phase, will be powered by 2.4 gigawatts of wind energy to produce 500,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually.

This is the company’s second utility-scale green hydrogen project following the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project in Saudi Arabia.
