
ACWA to build largest wind power plant in Central Asia
The company will construct the 1500 MW wind power project in Uzbekistan.
Saudi Arabia-based ACWA Power has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Investments & Foreign Trade and the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan to build what is set to be the largest wind power project in Central Asia.
The 1500 MW wind power project will be built in Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan with ACWA leading its development, construction and future operation.
The agreement was signed, on behalf of ACWA Power by Ayad AlAmri, Executive General Manager of Business Development, and on behalf of the Uzbekistani side by Sherzod Khodjaev, Deputy Minister at the Uzbekistan Ministry of Energy, and Shukhrat Vafaev, Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade
The 1500 MW wind power project will offset about 2.5 million tons of carbon per year and is expected to cater to the power needs of approximately 4 million households.
