Winning bids drop to US$4c/kWh at Maharashtra, India's 1GW solar auction

Bids reached 1.45GW for a total available capacity of 1GW.

The latest solar PV auction held by the Maharashtra government (India) selected bids ranging between INR2.71-2.72/kWh (around US$4c/kWh), which is slightly lower than tariffs in the latest auctions held by the Indian state-run utility NTPC (INR2.72-2.73/kWh, US$4c/kWh). The bids reached 1,450 MW for a total available capacity of 1,000 MW, whereas the latest auctions in the state called by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (MSEDCL) in December 2017 was undersubscribed.

As for wind power, Maharashtra awarded 500 MW during a tender organized in March 2018, with winning bids ranging between INR2.85/kWh and INR2.87/kWh (around US$4.4c/kWh).
