Punj Lloyd Group to sell power to NVVN
Punj Lloyd’s future 5MW photovoltaic plant will supply power to NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
The plant will be built in the Phalodi area of Jodhpur district in Rajasthan, India. This project is being set up as part of Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, a program under the guidance of Ministry of New & Renewable Energy and Ministry of Power.
“Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, which aims to generate 20,000MW of solar power by the year 2022 has proven to be a game changer in not only generating energy but also in transforming the lives of the beneficiaries besides creating local jobs. We are proud to be a part of this initiative, which will minimise India’s dependence on conventional power by building state-of-the-art infrastructure in a state that has the maximum number of sunny days in the country,” said Atul Punj, chairman of Punj Lloyd.
The power plant will be developed by Punj Lloyd Solar Power Limited, which has been specifically set up for the implementation of this project. The company will commission, operate and maintain the plant.
