NHPC seeks bidders for 1.2 GW solar power projects

NHPC will sell the power from the solar projects to state utilities and discoms.

India’s National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has launched a tender to develop 1.2 gigawatts (GW) grid-connected solar power projects.

In the tender, NHPC said it will select the solar generators through competitive bidding process, adding that there is an additional capacity of up to 1.2 GW with “Greenshoe Option.”

After the bidding process, NHPC will enter into a power purchase agreement with the generators for a period of 25 years, starting from the scheduled supply start date. NHPC will then sell the power to state utilities, discoms, or any other beneficiaries.

Without the “Greenshoe Option,” the cumulative capacity offered shold not exceed 600 MW. The coffered capacity should not exceed 1.2 GW for bidders with such option.

For project in North-Eastern States and Special Categoryy, the minimum contracted capacity offered should be 30 MW, including its parent, affiliate or ultimate parent.
