
Chinese power firms increase coal businesses
Major Chinese power companies are expanding their business in the coal industry.
According to capitalvue.com, these power generation companies include Huaneng Power International, Datang International Power Generation, GD Power Development and China Power Investment Corporation.
China Power Investment Corporation’s capacity was 72.75 million tons.
China Power Investment Corporation has a three-pronged strategy to integrate coal and electricity generation businesses: Participate in coal development, cooperate directly with coal companies, and transport coal to other provinces and cities. According to Lu Qizhou, the company’s general manager, coal purchases comprise 70 percent of power generation costs.
