China's renewables capacity predicted to hit 400GW by 2025
It holds on to its throne as the world's largest renewables market.
China will maintain its position as the largest renewables market in the world over the coming decade, driven by high levels of investment and supportive government policy - in line with efforts to reduce carbon emissions, according to BMI.
The pace of expansion of the renewables sector will remain largely dependent on the country's ability to upgrade the power grid infrastructure to improve the integration of renewables and to boost provincial power interconnections.
Here's more from BMI:
Our long-held view that China will dominate the global renewables space in terms of the size of the market and rate of expansion continues to play out.
China will remain the dominant global player for renewable energy over the coming decade, surpassing any other country for renewables capacity additions between 2016 and 2025.
We expect China to bring online nearly 190GW of capacity by the end of our forecast period in 2025, resulting in an installed renewables capacity base of over 400GW by 2025. China's renewables capacity additions over this time period will account for 30% of all additions at the global level.
