China turns to wind energy to power heating systems

Local authorities will be given less than two months to set annual targets for generating heat using wind farms.

China’s National Energy Administration (NEA) announced it would promote the use of wind energy to help power heating systems across the country during the winter season, according to a report by Reuters.

The NEA urged local authorities to set annual targets for generating heating using energy from wind farms over the period from 2019 to 2021. It also said they should build infrastructure to promote the use of wind power.

Local governments will be given less than two months to draw up plans and submit them to Beijing.
