
Bhutan negotiates on exporting energy to Bangladesh
Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck announced that his country is keen to export energy to Bangladesh.
But he would want the Bangladesh government to develop the country’s overall infrastructure first.
The King pointed this out when he met with Bangladeshi representatives composed of opposition leader Khaleda Zia, BNP acting secretary-general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, former Bangladesh Foreign Affairs Secretary Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, Riaz Rahman and Sabihuddin Ahmed..
“The different issues of bilateral interests of both countries were discussed in the meeting. Especially, the BNP chairperson discusses the import of energy from Bhutan ,” said Shamsher Mobin.
The King and Queen Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck arrived in Dhaka Thursday on a six-day private visit.
