Bangladesh starts operating 150-MW dual fuel power plant

A 150-megawatt duel-fuel power plant will help resolve power crisis in the northern region of Bangladesh.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently inaugurated the plant in Sirajganj.

The 150 MW plant, situated on the western side of Bangabandhu Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge, is dependent on dual fuel like gas and diesel.

The plant started experimental production in October last year. At present, the plant is being operated by gas.

Around 35 million cubic feet of gas is required daily for full scale production.

North-West Power Generation Company implemented the project while constructing firm was China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation.

The power plant was set up on 10 acres of land at a cost of Tk 800 crore.
