Bangladesh's electricity demand during the next irrigation and summer season is likely to stand at 7500-megawatt.

This was announced by Bangladesh State Minister for Powe M Enamul Haque, who added that power production at the same time might be around 6600-MW.

Haque said the government has taken all kinds of preparation to provide uninterrupted electricity supply to the rural areas for irrigation during the next Boro season.

The minister said his ministry has taken special arrangements to provide uninterrupted power to rural areas from 11pm to 6 am during the Boro season.

The state minister urged all to reduce misuse of electricity and use energy saving bulbs and refrain from illuminations.
Answering another question of Shaheen Monwara Haque, the state minster said the present government has taken plans to set up new power plants in the country to mitigate the electricity crisis.
