What are your previous experiences and positions held that contributed to who you are as an expert in the power industry today?
Prior to joining KPMG in 2014, I was the AVP for Finance in Aboitiz Power Corp.- Generation Group. I started working in the power industry in the pre-EPIRA period, thus I have seen how the power business changed and evolved post-deregulation. I have also worked in various capacities (from analyst to manager) for the following Philippine power/energy companies: Meralco, PNOC-Petrochemical Development Corp, PSALM, and AES.
What are your key business philosophies?
As an Engineer and Economist, I believe that while knowledge/theory are good, but we derive the benefits only when there is application. Energy policy should always fairly consider the sides of both the consumer and the supplier. Markets better respond to incentives than regulation
Can you give us a glimpse of what you will talk about at the Asian Power Utility Forum?
I will discuss about the challenges and concerns in ensuring long-term power supply for the Philippines under the current supply-demand situation, global energy trends, and our regulatory and policy environment.
