Sembcorp’s Myingyan power plant resumes operations
Conflicts around the plant’s area have ceased.
Sembcorp Industries has resumed operations of its 225 megawatt gas-fired Myingyan Independent Power Plant in Mandalay, Myanmar after a temporary suspension on 12 August amidst civil unrest in the region.
In a bourse filing, Sembcorp said the decision was made after confirming that conflicts near the plant have stopped and it is now safe for workers to return. The date to resume operations was also aligned with the Electric Power Generation Enterprise.
Sembcorp assured continuous monitoring of the situation.
The company does not expect the temporary suspension to have a substantial impact on its earnings per share or net tangible assets per share for the year ending 31 December 2024.
