Philippines poised to partner with Slovenia to revive mothballed nuke plant
Slovenia's Krsko nuke plant is said to be a clone of the former's plant.
It could be high time for the Philippines to partner with another country in repowering the mothballed 621MW Bataan plant as analysis showed that the government spends a whopping $1m per year just for the plant's maintenance.
Local news reported that Napoleon Viterbo, operations manager at National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said that the country's current power supply is not sufficient to prevent future power outages, which strengthens the pressure for the country to turn to nuclear energy.
It has also been reported that Slovenia's energy agency is being considered to assist in the plant's assessment and safetly compliance, given that its 696MW Krsko nuclear plant is a clone of the unused Batan plant.
