NTPC’s Telangana Super Thermal Power Project Unit 1 goes online

Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicated the first 800 megawatts (MW) Unit of Phase 1 of NTPC’s Telangana Super Thermal Power Project to the nation, providing low-cost power to the State.
In a statement, the Ministry of Power said the prime minister emphasised the vital role of self-reliant capacity for electricity production in improving the ease of living and doing business.
“Smooth supply of electricity gives momentum to growth of industries in a state,” he said.

He added that the project’s second unit will soon be in operation and will bring the plant’s installed capacity to 4,000 MW.
The project, located in the Peddapalli district, is the most modern amongst NTPC’s local power plants, the prime minister said.
The ministry said Phase 1 of the Telangana Super Thermal Power Project will supply 85% of its power to the state.
