Kunlun mulls on bringing 3.7bcm of new capacity to liquefaction plants in 2015
As part of LNG-growing ventures.
Kunlun Energy has expanded the capacity of its liquefaction plants, which reached 2.1bcm annually at the end of 2013.
According to a research note from Barclays, this is part of the plan to grow the company’s LNG for its transportation business.
The company plans to bring on line 3.7bcm of new capacity in 2015, which would add further pressure on earnings in Barclays' view.
This is because it expects the new capacity to be running at similarly low utilisation rates.
It was also noted that Kunlun has the largest build-out of domestic liquefaction capacity to capture the opportunity in gas oil substitution for transportation.
