Japan sets bidding limit for solar auctions at 1.5GW
Tenders for 2MW-plus solar plants are being rolled out for 2018-2019.
Japan has recently revealed proposals on the renewables purchase price for the next fiscal year. The Procurement Price Calculation Committee has set a bidding limit of 1.5GW for solar auctions set for 2018-2019.
The government is currently rolling out tenders for 2MW-plus solar plants which include a 500MW auction in 2017 and another two in 2018.
The first tender's upper bidding price limit is US$0.178 (JPY21) per kWh, while the next projects' bidding targets and prices are yet to be decided on, and will be based on the first project's bidding results.
It was also suggested that the purchase price for home solar systems with 10kW and below capacities should be set at JPY28 per kWh without the requirement to make use of an output control equipment.
