GSPC and Doosan partner to enhance power plant efficiency

They will study the adoption of ammonia co-firing and CCUS technology.

Thailand’s Global Power Synergy Public Company (GSPC) and Doosan Enerbility signed a memorandum of understanding for a three-year joint study to establish a partnership framework for the adoption of technologies that will enhance power plants’ efficiency.

In a statement, GSPC said the partnership will study the potential adoption of fuel shifts & hybridisation such as ammonia co-firing, carbon capture, utilisation & storage technologies, and carbon-free energy solutions that will decarbonise electricity and steam productions from existing power plants.

“The joint feasibility studies of carbon-free solutions and CCUS technology are highly significant addition to our expansion of renewable energy development, which is already one of the core GPSC’s businesses,” GSPC COO Sirimet Leepagorn said.

“Our goal is to explore additional opportunities to decarbonize for the cleaner production of electricity and steam, aligning with GPSC’s main mission in helping alleviate the issues of global warming,” he added.
