CLP Power upgrades programme to help businesses save energy, decarbonise

It is backed by the CLP Community Energy Saving Fund with HK$2m support.

CLP Power Hong Kong enhanced the CLP Retro-Commissioning Charter Programme with the offering of new series of advanced training courses to commercial and industrial customers to strengthen their knowledge of retro-commissioning and help save energy from buildings.

In a statement, CLP Power said the new advanced training course offered includes classroom training and field visits for energy management employees and engineers who have a basic understanding of retro-commissioning.

The programme covers advanced learning and techniques such as data analysis, system diagnosis, measurement verification, and further deepening of retro-commissioning knowledge and skills.

The CLP Community Energy Saving Fund provides HK$2m support to the programme.

“Businesses today attach great importance to environmental, social, and governance (ESG). While actively integrating sustainable development into their operations, acceleration of low-carbon transformation is an integral part,” CLP Power Managing Director T K Chiang said.

“We will continue to support customers who want to save energy and reduce carbon emissions as part of our mission to help Hong Kong achieve carbon neutrality by 2050,” he added.

Launched in 2021, the programme has provided free retro-commissioning training courses to over 300 energy management employees from nearly 100 business organisations in various industries such as property management, hotels, data centres and caterers.

Over 70 businesses and organisations have started or completed retro-commissioning works on more than 120 buildings which will save a total of around 16 gigawatt hours of electricity annually. This is equivalent to the energy consumption yearly of around 3,600 CLP Power residential customers and the reduction of around 6,200 tonnes of carbon emissions.

CLP has implemented several programmes to support customers’ energy conversation and carbon reduction, including subsidy schemes such as the free Energy Audit Service, CLP Eco Building Fund, the Electrical Equipment Upgrade Scheme, Feed-in Tariff Scheme, and Renewable Energy Certificates.
