
Multinational pharma firm to build RE windmill in India
Will partner with Suzlon Energy, Ltd.
Integrated global healthcare solutions provider Sanofi India, Ltd on announced a partnership with Indian wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon to build up a 2.1 MW offsite windmill.
Sanofi India signed an agreement with SEL for the windmill installation that will generate renewable power for captive consumption at its Ankleshwar manufacturing plant.
Sanofi said that as a global healthcare leader, it believes that reducing its carbon footprint and using energy responsibly are part of our mission to help protect life on this planet.
It strongly supports the use of renewable energies, and initiated a study in 2012 to better understand the local renewable energy market in India to identify available opportunities.
The manufacturing site at Ankleshwar produces solid dose formulations and active pharma ingredients. With another plant at Goa, Sanofi has the capacity to manufacture 8.5 billion tablets annually.
