Chinese firm to supply Punjab with electricity
Some 2,400 MW will be generated over three years.
The government of Punjab recently signed a memorandum of understanding with China Power International Holding Ltd to implement the project.
The MoU will enable the construction of four coal-fired power plants, each capable of producing 600 MW. The 2,400MW of electricity produced will be shifted to the National Grid Station for distribution.
The first two plants that will generate 1,200 MW will be completed in two years, while next two plants will be completed in 48 months.
Official government sources said the MoU provides that US$1.2 million per megawatt be invested into the project.
