
China accelerates work on major Pakistani power project
Deploying more engineers and technical staff.
China Gezhouba Group of Companies. the contractor building the 969 MW Neelum-Jhelum hydro-power plant, has decided to deploy the additional Chinese workforce to help complete the project before deadline.
CGGC Executive President Yang Yisheng said the project’s expected completion is June 2016. Because of the acute energy crisis, however, Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif wanted it completed earlier.
On a visit to the project site, Nawaz directed the authorities concerned to expedite construction work to make the plant operation by 2014 or 2015.
