China Longyuan to build wind farm in Canada
It will be a 100 MW wind farm in Ontario.
The project for the Ontario Power Authority will be the first foray into the global wind power market by China Longyuan Power Group Ltd, the largest wind power producer in China and Asia.
China Longyuan is mainly engaged in designing, developing, managing and operating wind power plants, and selling the electricity generated by its plants to customers.
The deal with Ontario Power Authority also marks the first time a Chinese government-owned power generation enterprise is investing in an overseas new energy project.
Construction of the Longyuan Canada wind power project will begin in early August, with commercial operation expected in the first quarter of 2014.
The Longyuan Canada wind power project was approved by China's National Development and Reform Commission in July, 2012.
