China wins US$2.4 billion Turkish power plant contract
Plant to generate 2,640 megawatts of electricity.
China and Turkey have signed a contract to build a coal-based thermal power plant in northwestern Turkey. The deal was signed recently by China's Harbin Electric International and Hattat Holding in Istanbul.
Harbin Electric International said it is capable of producing technical equipment that has the capacity to generate 40,000 MW of power annually, and has power plant projects in over 20 countries.
Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said Turkey continues to get other coal mines online to generate power by speeding up the related tenders.
