Hanergy launches 2 solar projects in Qinghai
Hanergy launched a thin-film solar cell manufacturing base and a photovoltaic power station in Qinghai Province.
The projects are part of the cooperation programs between the Beijing-based company and solar-rich Qinghai Province.
The solar cell project requires an investment of 3 billion yuan and allows for the production of 300 megawatt in solar cells every year.
"Hanergy is bringing advanced solar cell technology to Qinghai," the company's chairman Li Hejun said at the launching ceremony. "Aside from that, Hanergy is building a photovoltaic power plant and will also invest in Building Integrated Photovoltaic, which will promote the commercial use of solar energy."
Hanergy's strategy in the photovoltaic industry is in line with Qinghai's goal to build a secure, stable and renewable energy system.
Qinghai is one of the most solar-rich provinces in China. Grid connect PV systems in Qinghai generated 1.003 GW of solar electricity last year, accounting for 40 percent of the installed capacity of solar power in China.
These projects will boost Qinghai's role as China's future largest PV industry and solar power base, said Dong Pu, deputy director of Haidong Industry Park, where Hanergy's solar cell base is located.
