
BHEL to achieve 20,000 MW manufacturing capacity per annum
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited is on track to augment its manufacturing capacity to 20,000 MW per annum by March 2012 with its augmentattion programme.
The company made a total investment of Rs 1,655 crore towards augmentation of manufacturing capacity and modernization of facilities in manufacturing units and at power project sites. Focused attention was given on rebuilding and retrofitting of existing facilities to enhance their life, accuracy and productivity through an additional investment of Rs 58 crore.
BHEL has about 500 CNC machines, which include large size lathes, horizontal borers, vertical borers, machining centers, flame cutting machines, 5-axis machining centers, incremental pipe bending machines, special purpose machines etc.
meeting the enhanced load of commissioning of power plants, BHEL has inducted 17 heavy lift and medium range cranes to resolve constraints at project sites. With this a total of 125 cranes are now available for executing work at project sites.
