
CR Power increases net generation by 49.2%
China Resources Power increased its total net generation for January and February by 26.1 percent to 5,854,767MWh. The company recorded a net generation of only 4,641,130 MWh for the same period in 2009. Total net generation for the first two months of 2010 increased by 49.2% to 14,410,321 MWh compared to 9,655,188 MWh for the same period last year.
As Chinese New Year fell in February this year, industrial activities and power demand slowed down during the holiday period. Chinese power industry usually combines the net generation statistics of January and February in order to assess the underlying power demand in the country. On a same plant basis, total net generation for the first two months increased by 18.5 percent compared to same period last year.
Power plants located in Guangdong, Henan and Jiangsu recorded 34.9 percent, 18.5 percent and 18.0 percent increase year on year, respectively, while power plants in Hebei recorded almost flat net generation so far this year. Plants in other parts of the country recorded 16.8 percent year-on-year increase.
