Two massive projects will boost Australia’s solar energy capacity
Will be Australia’s largest PV projects.
AGL Energy, Ltd will build both plants. It said both large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects have secured funding through agreements with the Australian Renewable Energy Agency and the New South Wales government.
The projects are expected to produce some 360,000 megawatt hours of electricity per year. It includes a 102 MW solar power plant at Nyngan and a 53 MW solar plant at Broken Hill. Total project cost is some A$450 million.
The Nyngan and Broken Hill solar plants will be Australia’s largest solar projects with the Nyngan plant also being the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.
AGL will deliver these projects in partnership with ARENA and the NSW government, together with the local councils and communities of Broken Hill and Nyngan.
