New applications received for Taiwan's wind power zonal development
The project involves Round 1 of Offshore Wind Power Zonal Development.
Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) received new applications for contract signing from five developers for Round 1 of Offshore Wind Power Zonal Development.
After concerns from all sectors about the contract signing, the Ministry said it will review all applications and finalise contracts for the wind power development, wherein grid connection for Round 1 developers will start by 2026 and 2027. It will also support developers during construction of the offshore projects.
The offshore wind project is one of Taiwan’s initiatives for its target of 2050 net-zero emissions and the commercialisation of wind power over the country.

Through the development, MOEA will continue to comply with the established energy policies by helping developers of offshore wind projects and establishing an ample environment for energy progress.
Planning for Round 2 of the Zonal Development is ongoing, with the Ministry selecting developers and gathering statements from stakeholders.
