JERA strikes deal with Yamanashi Prefecture for regional hydrogen value chain

It involves the green hydrogen-generating Yamanashi Model Power-to-Gas (P2G) System.

JERA Co., Inc. and Yamanashi Prefecture have agreed to collaborate on the development of a regional hydrogen value chain.

The deal involves the adoption of the Yamanashi Model Power-to-Gas (P2G) System, a technology designed to produce green hydrogen utilising cutting-edge polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) water electrolysis equipment.

With Yamanashi Prefecture progressing in establishing a regional energy model that uses green hydrogen, JERA has given its support to forming partnerships with the production and transportation surrounding the proposed hydrogen value chain.

Additionally, under the agreement, both parties will cooperate on the promotion of a regional hydrogen value chain that applies their specialties: JERA’s global green hydrogen value chain and Yamanashi Prefecture’s P2G system-based regional energy model.

Other cooperative efforts include the installation of a hydrogen power site in Komekurayama, Yamanashi, and the demonstration of a local power-generating system that allows a 24/7 carbon-free power supply.
