CEM first to obtain ISO 14064 in Macau

CEM has obtained the ISO 14064 Greenhouse Gases Management System Certification. It became the first utility company in Macao and the first electricity company in Hong Kong and Macao to obtain this certification.

Climate change has become a challenge to the international community. As an industry leader that adheres to the highest standards of quality and integrity, CEM is committed to conducting operations in an environmentally responsible manner and formulating measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

As a necessary first step to develop an effective climate action plan, recently CEM conducted GHG inventories of six greenhouse gases: CO2, CH4, N2O, HFCs, PFCs, and SF6 as well as the leading air pollutants NOx, Total Solid Particles and SO2 based on the scientific consensus regarding the existence and severity of climate change. The results are certified by Bureau VERITAS Hong Kong Limited that the quantity of CEM’s GHG emissions is in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14064:2006 standard. Without having any external consultancy support, CEM has achieved this certification with all the necessary works done internally.
