RV Ahilan

Dr RV Ahilan is Joint CEO and Group Director, Renewables Advisory & Energy Technology at LOC Group. He holds a BSc (Leeds) and MS (Caltech) in Civil Engineering, a PhD (Cantab) in Engineering Fluid Mechanics and an MBA (Imperial). He is a well-known and highly respected technology and business leader with over three decades of industry experience, more than 15 years of which has been at board level. Prior to LOC, Ahilan was EVP of the Renewables Advisory Division of DNV GL, with strategic and operational responsibility for the world’s largest technical advisory firm in renewable energy.

Sam Reynolds

Sam Reynolds, energy finance analyst with the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA), focuses on the economic, financial, and climate risks associated with natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure developments in emerging Asia. He is the author of several studies concerning the region’s transition to renewable energy, stranded asset risk in the natural gas sector, and the macroeconomic risks associated with a greater regional dependence on imported LNG.

As a former political and regulatory risk analyst focusing on global oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) markets, Sam analysed judicial, legislative, and executive actions that impacted U.S. energy and environmental policy. His work has been published in local and international media outlets around the world. Sam has a master’s degree in energy economics and international environmental law from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in international development from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Shafiqul Alam

Shafiqul Alam is IEEFA’s Energy Finance Analyst for Bangladesh. He has more than a decade of experience in the energy and climate change sectors. His interest primarily centers on renewable energy, energy efficiency, climate finance, and policy instruments to spearhead the clean energy transition. 

Prior to joining IEEFA, he worked with international development agencies and private sector organizations across the broad spectrum of energy transition and climate change mitigation in various capacities. Among other things, he led to the formulation of national clean energy regulations, implemented award-winning climate change mitigation projects under the Clean Development Mechanism, conducted sectoral and organizational development needs assessments to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency. He also carried out exploratory research on carbon pricing instruments. 

In 2018, he received the prestigious International Climate Protection Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany. He is also a recipient of the Clean Energy Fellowship of the National Bureau of Asian Research, USA.
